Katherine J. Winters is the middle child of three children, and she has an older brother and younger sister. She moved to Alberta in her late teens. Two years after moving to Alberta, she met and fell in love with an incredible man who captured her heart. They got married two years later and had two children together.

After many years of heartache and overcoming numerous obstacles from her chaotic childhood, Katherine came to know God ten years ago.

“Each day is a learning experience for me,” she says. “Learning how much I can trust God, and learning and experiencing just how much God truly loves me, and the miraculous healing that he has done and continues to do daily in my life.”
Katherine is passionate about sewing. Today, she and her family live in Red Deer, Alberta.

Q&A


Q: What can you tell us about your new book, Let Your Light Shine?

A: In this book, I share my story of being a survivor of childhood sexual abuse. There is hope for recovery and healing—mentally, physically, and spiritually—from the trauma of abuse.

Q. What motivated you to write this story?

A: God motivated me write this story. A few years ago, I felt a nudging in my gut to share my secret, but I felt the timing was off for me to write about it. After much prayer and soul-searching, I finally decided it was time for me to go ahead with this project.

Q: How long did it take you to write the book?

A: It has taken me five years to put together my memories of the various events that took place in my childhood.

Q: What do you hope readers will take away from this book?

A: I hope to help people understand that there is hope for healing and deliverance from the trauma of childhood sexual abuse.

Q: Do you have any advice to offer new writers? Any helpful hints?

A: I never imagined nor desired to be a writer. This book contains my testimony. In writing it, I was simply compelled to share hope—and now I can let go of my secret.
