My Canada: Freedom
By Sylvia St.Cyr

There are so many words that come to mind when I think about this great nation of Canada that we live in. However, the most prevalent word for me would have to be freedom.

I don’t often think about the freedoms I have, and take most of them for granted. But all I have to do is flip through Facebook or turn on the TV and I am reminded of how good I have it.

The simple fact that I as a woman get to choose whom I marry, am allowed to work outside the home, and worship my God without my life being threatened, is something that I am very thankful for. There are many people of all ages, races, and genders that do not have the same freedoms that I have, because of the country they live in.

I am well aware that there are improvements our country can make, but I live in this beautiful and free place, and I am grateful to be Canadian!
