Author Spotlight: Angilee Clarke
We are pleased to introduce author Angilee Clarke. Angilee recently published Captivated, which is now available through the Word Alive Press Bookstore, and everywhere fine Christian books are sold. We asked Angilee to share a little bit about her writing and her new book. But first, a little bit about her.
About
As a young child, it wasn’t unusual for Angilee Clarke to read the dictionary in her spare time. She has always been fascinated with writing. How could she not be, when her parents were such amazing storytellers?
Occasionally, the love affair between her fingers and pen has caused her pointer finger a lot of discomfort, but that hasn’t stopped her from writing every chance she gets.
At fifteen, she entered a YMCA writing contest, a program designed for young writers in Canada. She placed second for her short story.
Over time, she found her voice through writing, just as she was encouraged by colleagues, family, and friends to write a book. Angilee kept these words as inspiration, and in 2020 she sensed the presence of the Holy Spirit prompting her to write. So she seized the opportunity.
Her dream of writing a book became a reality in 2021 when she completed her manuscript. From there she contacted Word Alive Press, and the connection was incredible. She knew the directive had come from the Holy Spirit.
Angilee has used her gifts of encouragement and teaching to minister to women for the past fifteen years. Her passion is for women to know and live the truth of God’s Word. She is also the director of Beacon of Hope, a ministry designed to equip and empower women all over the world. She serves as an inspirational speaker, pastor, life coach, and accountant. She also holds a Master of Theology and a Doctorate in Divinity.
She loves nature and enjoys taking long walks. It is at these times that the Holy Spirit speaks to her most clearly.
Angilee is married to her high school friend and prayer partner for the past thirty years. She pastors with him at Kingdom Revolution Breakthrough Ministries. They live in Ontario with their two adult children.
Q&A
Q: What inspired you to write this book?
A: I can honestly say that this book was inspired by the Holy Spirit. He has always been a part of my life, but in my wildest dreams I never thought of writing this book.
Due to my speech impediment as a child, I have always found my power and voice through writing. Of all the things I’ve written, this was the most enjoyable. The words came out of my mind like water flowing from a stream. I want to share my experience to let everyone know that the Holy Spirit is here, he is real, and he performs wonders amongst us.
Q: What is this book about?
A: Captivated provides an in-depth look at the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Christian. The book is filled with my own encounters and re-encounters with the Holy Spirit, stories that will deepen your relationship with God. I also provide a comprehensive explanation of who he is, where he dwells, and what he does.
As a result of Christ’s death and burial, the barrier of sin between you and God was removed through God’s love and forgiveness. Through the Holy Spirit, he began to dwell within you; your heart became His home, bringing you life and connection. Before, your heart was like a house without power, cold and dark, but the Holy Spirit moved in and created a spiritual atmosphere.
Although we may not know the how or where of the Holy Spirit, we do know that his presence in us brings an assurance of the eternal life to come.
Q: What did you learn while writing the book?
A: Writing this book has taught me that you don’t know your true capabilities until you step outside of your comfort zone. There is greatness buried deep inside every human being, just waiting to be released.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was building my confidence. Initially I was concerned that I might write something wrong, or that someone might not like what I wrote. But I’ve learned that there is no right or wrong way of writing. I learned to ignore these doubts and write regardless of whether everything makes sense, since I can always go back and correct it.
A written piece, whether an essay, book, or autobiography, allows you to explore the depths of your own mind, revealing emotions you never knew you had. I’ve learned that you can be more effective if you find passion in your work.
Q: What do you hope readers will take away from this book?
A: I hope readers will benefit from learning more about who the Holy Spirit is and how he works in a believer’s life. No matter how difficult a situation may seem, the Holy Spirit is always with you. If you’re a true believer, you can feel his presence supporting you. The Holy Spirit gives you the power to help yourself, to overcome whatever challenges you face. He sustains, energizes, and keeps us on the path of right living.
Also, by becoming familiar with the names and attributes of God, the reader will learn that he places a high value on relationships, beginning with the relationship in the Trinity!
The Holy Spirit empowers believers to be saved, filled, sealed, and sanctified. He reveals God’s mind, teaching and guiding believers into all truth, including knowledge of the future. May each of my readers use this tool to their advantage to find a renewed sense of awareness.
Q: What is your next step as an author?
A: I plan to finish the next book I’ve begun writing, which is about the techniques involved in sustaining a good balance in marriage.
Q: Do you have any quick tips for new writers?
A: I would say, write from your own experiences. And don’t give up! If writing is your passion, there is a road that will lead you somewhere. Don’t get off it until you find the right place. In other words, write and keep writing. Every chance you get to share it, do it.

Captivated is a very fitting name for this extraordinary read! From the very first chapter, it draws you in and paints a life-changing picture. It shows not only the ways one can change but your very outlook on life.
Both inspirational, eye-opening, enlightening, inspirational, and a very example of hope; it takes you on a journey of family, faith, and why a relationship with the Holy Spirit is vital for growth.
