Author Spotlight: Brent Rudoski

Pastor Brent Rudoski has just released his first book, Jesus Was Not a Rebel. For this month’s Author Spotlight, we had Brent share a bit more about himself, his vision for the church, and his new book.
Brent Rudoski and his wife Barb are senior pastors of Faith Alive Family Church in Saskatoon, SK. He boldly proclaims that anyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be rescued, recovered, and restored, just like he was twenty-eight years ago when he came to know Jesus and was instantly set free from addiction to drugs and alcohol.
The best way to describe Brent’s preaching style is that it’s straightforward, with a good dose of humour thrown in. As a pastor, Brent’s heart yearns to see healthy churches filled with people willing to give their lives to advance the Kingdom of God, both here in Canada and around the world. Brent longs to see revival and healing sweep from shore to shore in Canada, and God is propelling him to the forefront of a revival and unity movement in the prairies.
Several years ago, Brent initiated the Prairie Fire Conferences, gathering many churches and pastors together to present a strong voice for revival and unity in Canada.
Faith Alive Family Church is the home of
- The Faith Alive Show, a weekly program airing across Canada on the Miracle Channel and online.
- Faith Alive Bible College, a fully accredited Bible school offering bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in practical theology.
- Prairie Christian Academy, a fully accredited K–12 ACE School.
Faith Alive has produced three worship CDs—Keeper, Open the Floodgates, Coming Alive—and is hosting a songwriting/worship conference from July 11–13, 2014, with guests Jennie Riddle, Michael Farren, and Dustin Smith.

Here is an exciting excerpt from Brent’s book, Jesus Was Not a Rebel:
Jesus didn’t use His freedom to express His own selfishness, arrogance, or pride. Instead, He gave us a picture of what true authority really is. It is humility that submits to every human institution on the earth. Jesus, man’s creator, chose to humble Himself and submit to His own creation’s authority. Interestingly, Jesus had no problem doing what most of mankind struggles with—submission to someone else. The most common temptation of people who are given greater authority is to use it to do whatever they want, claiming freedom as their justification. Jesus, on the other hand, used His freedom to humble Himself and walk in submission to the people He was in authority over. Jesus showed us what true humility and submission look like, and it is quite different from the way most of us see it.
Jesus could have gotten all riled up and ranted, “You don’t know who I am, do you? I am the one who made all this! You should be paying taxes to Me!” Instead, He lowered Himself to meet their requirements. What an awesome man He was! Perhaps we can learn a lesson or two about true humility and submission from the greatest example of all time.
As you can see, Jesus never took issue with the Roman government and was misunderstood for it. Most people believed the Messiah would come as a conquering hero and deliver the nation of Israel. He did come as a conquering hero, just not in the way they were expecting. Instead of using rebellion, Jesus brought true freedom through the avenue of submission.
