We are pleased to introduce Dr. Ebenezer Adiyiah. He recently published Ancient Wisdom, Modern Church: Building a Healthy and Christ-Centred Community, which is the first installment in the Ancient Wisdom series. It is available now through the Word Alive Press Bookstore, and everywhere fine Christian books are sold. We asked him to share a little bit about his writing and ministry. But first, a little bit about him.
About
Dr. Ebenezer Adiyiah was born in Kumasi, Ghana, and raised in the small farming town of Drobonso in the Ashanti Region. He grew up in a Christian home where his parents faithfully served the Lord and instilled in their children a love for God's Word, prayer, and the local church. Their example laid the foundation for a lifetime of Christian faith, ministry, and service.
From an early age, Dr. Adiyiah demonstrated a passion for leadership and ministry. At the age of ten, he began organizing young boys for church soccer activities and Bible studies, marking the beginning of his lifelong commitment to serving others. Although life presented many challenges, he remained devoted to both his studies and his Christian faith. His academic excellence earned him a scholarship to attend Kumasi Academy Secondary School (KUMACA), where he completed both his Ordinary and Advanced Level education. During those years, he became actively involved in the Kumasi branch of his church and was later appointed Youth President, deepening his commitment to Christian leadership and service.
He later earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences in Ghana. While at university, he organized Bible studies and established prayer groups on campus and within his local church, becoming increasingly involved in ministry. During this period, he was called into prophetic ministry and began serving in positions of leadership within the church.
Seeking further education, Dr. Adiyiah moved to Canada, where he initially studied Public Health and Safety before continuing his education in Medical Radiation Sciences at the University of Toronto. While in Canada, he co-founded True Faith Church International and served as its General Secretary. In that role, he supported the church's expansion in Canada and the United States while supporting ministry across North America. He later founded New Generation True Faith Church International, where he continues to serve in leadership.
Alongside his ministry, Dr. Adiyiah has built a career as a registered Medical Radiation Technologist in Canada's healthcare system. He served on the Discipline Committee of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario for a total of eight years and, after five years of committee service, was elected to its Board of Directors. His graduate and doctoral studies in healthcare, organizational leadership, and theology have further enriched both his professional career and his writing ministry.
Recognizing that ministry extends beyond the local congregation, Dr. Adiyiah began writing to reach believers around the world. His books draw upon decades of pastoral ministry, biblical study, leadership experience, and healthcare service. Through the Ancient Wisdom Series and his other writings, he seeks to encourage believers to remain faithful to Christ, grow in God's Word, and help build healthy, Christ-centred churches.
He is the author of the Ancient Wisdom Series, Okofoni's Legacy, and is currently completing his forthcoming manuscript, Is Christ's Body Divided?
Dr. Adiyiah is married to Mary Owusu, and together they are blessed with children. He actively engages with people through social media, particularly on TikTok, where he discusses church history, answers questions about the Bible, and shares insights on prophetic ministry.
Q&A
Q: Many readers know you as a pastor and leader in prophetic ministry. What inspired you to become a Christian writer?
A: That question always takes me back to my childhood. I grew up in a Christian home where my father and grandfather faithfully served Christ and His church. They taught me to love God's Word, value prayer, and remember that the church belongs to Jesus Christ. As a child, I developed a love for reading the Bible and later had the opportunity to read the Scriptures publicly during church services.
As I grew older and became more involved in church life, I saw that the church was not always what God intended it to be. I witnessed disagreements, power struggles, and times when believers struggled to love one another as Christ taught us. Those experiences convinced me that the church must always remain centred on Christ and faithful to His Word.
As I continued teaching, preaching, and mentoring others, I realized that a sermon often reaches one congregation, but a book can reach people far beyond the local church. I wanted to write books that would encourage believers, strengthen church leaders, and help the church remain faithful to Christ and His Word.
For me, writing became another way of serving God's people.
Q: You are both a church leader and a healthcare professional. How do those two callings complement each other?
A: That's probably one of the questions I'm asked most often. People are usually surprised to learn that I work in healthcare and write books about the church, prayer, leadership, and Christian living. To me, those have never been two separate worlds. Healthcare is my profession, but ministry has always been my calling. One allows me to care for people's physical needs, while the other gives me the opportunity to encourage them in their walk with Christ.
Over the years, I have met people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, both in the hospital and in the church. Those experiences have taught me compassion, patience, and the importance of truly listening. Healthcare reminds me that people need care. Ministry reminds me that they also need hope.
I have never seen those two callings as competing with each other. Each has strengthened the other, and both have shaped the way I serve people and the way I write.
Q: Ancient Wisdom, Modern Church has resonated with many readers. Why did you write it?
A: The book grew out of many years of ministry and conversations with pastors, church leaders, and believers. Wherever I went, I kept hearing the same concerns: division, leadership challenges, spiritual complacency, and churches struggling to remain faithful to God's Word.
The more I reflected on those conversations, the more I found myself returning to the early church. They faced many of the same challenges we face today, yet they remained devoted to Christ, prayer, fellowship, and the teaching of God's Word. That example convinced me that we need to return to the foundation Christ has already given us. That is really why I wrote Ancient Wisdom, Modern Church.
Q: How would you describe your writing process?
A: I spend a lot of time praying, reading Scripture, and researching before I begin writing. I rarely rush a manuscript because I want to be confident that what I write is faithful to God's Word and genuinely helpful to readers.
Ideas do not always come when I am sitting at my desk. Sometimes they come while I am at work, travelling through an airport, driving, or simply going about my day. When they do, I quickly write them down before I forget them.
Once I have a draft, I revise it several times. I keep asking myself, "Is this faithful to God's Word? Will it help someone grow in their faith?" If I can honestly answer "yes," then I know the manuscript is ready to share.
Q: What has surprised you most about becoming an author?
A: Honestly, how far a book can travel. As a pastor, I am used to preaching to the people sitting in front of me. I never imagined that a book could reach people I may never meet. Knowing that God can use something I have written to encourage a believer or strengthen a church on the other side of the world has been both humbling and encouraging.
I have also learned that when we place our gifts in God's hands, He can do far more with them than we could ever imagine.
Q: Do you have any advice for aspiring Christian writers?
A: Certainly. Write because God has given you something to say, not simply because you want to publish a book.
Writing a book also requires perseverance, discipline, and commitment. There will be evenings when you are tired after work, early mornings when you choose to write before the day begins, and moments when progress seems slow. Do not give up. If God has placed that calling on your heart, remain faithful to it.
If your writing helps even one person know Christ more deeply and grow stronger in their faith, then every hour you invested in writing will have been worthwhile.
