Welcome to the Friday writing prompt: the bi-weekly segment that imparts you with a little spark of idea to keep your writing fresh.

For today’s prompt, grab a timer and your preferred writing implements (laptop? Typewriter? Pen and paper?) and spend at least 15 minutes crafting your response to this challenge: we dare you to create a character you absolutely hate.

What are your least favourite characteristics in a human being? What makes a character loathsome to you? How can you use this character to make a story great?
