Meet the Team: Crystal Hildebrand
At Word Alive Press, we periodically like to focus on one of our team members, so you can get to know them better. Today, that person is our Publishing Consultant Crystal Hildebrand. Crystal has worked at Word Alive Press for a few years, both as a Project Manager and Publishing Consultant. We asked her some questions about herself, her work, and, of course, her love of books.
Q: What is your favourite book and why?
A: My favourite book is Pride and Prejudice. Most people can relate to a ‘comfort movie’- the movie they always go back to when they are sick or feeling down (shout out to You’ve Got Mail). Pride and Prejudice is my ‘comfort-read’. It’s warm and funny and can always bring a smile to my face.
Q: What is your favourite part about working in publishing?
A: I have two favourite things about working in publishing (besides the books of course). The first would be the relationships I get to form with authors. Second, I love to see the book they have worked so hard on finally come out in print so it can be enjoyed by others.
Q: What do people find surprising about you?
A: Perhaps the many “side-quests” I involve myself in? I am prone to starting new hobbies and love to learn new things.
Q: If you could meet with any historical figure, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
A: Pastor Charles Spurgeon, or the Apostle Peter. For various reasons, I love any and all quotes by Spurgeon. And Peter seems so relatable to me.
Q: What is a hobby of yours?
A: Besides reading, I love to go on early morning walks with my Wolfhound, I love to do pottery and I am currently learning to play the violin (see?! - Random).
Q: Would you rather read digital or paper books?
A: Paper. 100%.
Q: What are you currently reading?
A: I usually have a few on the go. Right now, I am currently reading Daniel, Verse by Verse Commentary by David Guzik, The Warrior Savior by Owen Strachan (for my book club) and The Beirut Protocol by Joel C. Rosenberg (for fun).
