An Announcement about Our Royalty Process
We are very pleased to announce that we have tweaked our royalty process for added transparency and convenience.
Authors will now be emailed a royalty statement for earnings of any amount each quarter. Earnings of more than $20 accrued in one or more quarters will still be paid via cheque.
Earnings of less than $20 will be applied as a credit on your account to use towards current or future orders. If no orders are placed, you will continue to accrue royalties until the $20 threshold is crossed and a cheque is sent.
Why the change?
Royalty earnings are funds that belong to authors, and we want to be as transparent as possible regarding what is owed. This most recent quarter, there were about seven hundred authors who had a royalty balance. Only authors who accrued $20 or more were sent statements and cheques because previously it has not been practical to manually mail or email that many reports.
With our new accounting software, authors will receive an email to notify them of earnings in any amount—and that credit can immediately be applied to any current or future orders.
How does this benefit authors?
For many book projects, sales decrease over time. Say a book was published back in 2002. It may have a few sales per quarter, year, or even decade. At that rate, it could take quite a bit of time to accrue $20. With this change, authors have access to earnings of any amount at any time. So if an author needs a reprint, renews their POD distribution listing, or has a new project, their earnings (of less than $20) will be applied as a credit.
We are very excited to provide authors the opportunity to access their royalties immediately when they are earned, rather than solely paying out earnings of $20 or more.

I wasn’t thinking about book royalties yet, so it was a pleasant surprise to receive your email yesterday, including the royalty statement.
I have a question: what does ‘Print on Demand Sales’ mean?

This was exciting to get my first Royalty notice.
Is there a way to find out the dates and what website people bought the books from?
Or would this mean that 5 books were ordered from word alive press?
Thank you for the update.
